Matthew (Matt) Ryan

 Matthew (Matt) Ryan

Croghan Close, Coolgreany, Wexford / Redcross, Wicklow

Matt’s sons Matthew, Daniel & Mark & daughter Sharon, their partners Bernie, Lisa & Rim, his grandsons Matthew, Shaun, John & Jake, his brothers Mike, Jim & Pat, sisters Margot, Breda & June & all of his family wish to extend their most heartfelt thanks for the many expressions of condolence they received at the time of Matt’s sad passing & in the time since.

While the restrictions of the time did not allow for the gathering of family & friends to celebrate Matt’s life as we would have liked, we very much appreciate the many ways you found to express your love & respect for Matt & your sympathy & support for us all. Your kindness & consideration will never be forgotten & we ask that you continue to keep Matt in your thoughts & prayers.

Thank you to Fr Joe Doran for celebrating such a beautiful funeral Mass in the church that Matt loved & to the sacristy team for all their help.

Thank you to those who gathered at the church to accompany Matt on his final journey & all who attended his graveside service.

Very special thanks to Ray Finn for leading Matt’s cortege to the sound of his favourite tunes on bagpipes, one of Matt’s final & dearest wishes.

To Matt’s fellow truckers; John Hudson, Paul Ivers & George Foxton, who accompanied Matt throughout his funeral, we cannot thank you enough for such a wonderful show of respect. Matt would have been so proud.

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses & carers who have assisted & cared for Matt throughout the past few years & to all of the staff of Wexford General Hospital who brought such comfort & dignity to his final weeks.

Thanks also to Chris Caffrey for tending to the grave & to all at John Sweeney & Sons Funeral Directors.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation.

We truly hope that when normality resumes, we can all gather to celebrate Matt’s life in a way that truly reflects the gentleman we all knew & loved.
