Acknowledgement and First Anniversary
30th November 2023
On this the First Anniversary of Michael’s passing, his wife Breda, his daughters Gillian, Hazel and their families, together with his sisters Mary and Catherine and their families, would like to offer our sincere and heartfelt thanks to each and every person who offered their condolences and support to us on our sad and sudden loss.
A special thank you to all who phoned, sent Mass and sympathy cards, letters, messages of condolence on RIP.ie and floral tributes. To those who called to our home, attended the wake and funeral, some of whom travelled long distances to be with us, we are so very grateful. Thanks also to Michael’s ex-work colleagues and friends, who never lost sight of him, from retirement to his passing. To hear stories and memories from them gave us great comfort. He looked so forward to the phone calls and the chats. Thanks also to all who called in and sat with him out front for the chats he so enjoyed.
Special thanks to Dr. Gerry O’Flynn and the Staff at Kilbeggan Medical Centre, to the Public Health Nurses at Clara Medical Centre, Brian McManus and Staff in McManus Pharmacy, Clara, the Staff at the Oncology/Haematology Unit at Tullamore Regional Hospital especially Miriam who always looked after him so well on his visits for his treatment, he enjoyed the laugh, chat and of course her cuppa tea and the Staff at Esker Ri Nursing Home.
Special thanks to Cowen’s Funeral Directors for their professionalism, to Fr. Luke Ohiemi for his compassion, kindness and help in arranging and celebrating Michael’s funeral mass, to all who took part in the mass and made it a fitting tribute to Michael we are eternally grateful, to Ken our sacristan for his assistance and to Majella and Darren for the beautiful singing and music. To all of our neighbours and friends who were with us over the days and who stood out to welcome Michael home for the last time and take him to his final resting place, your kindness and help will never be forgotten. Also thanks to the Clara GAA Club for the beautiful Tribute posted by them on FB and the lovely messages of condolence left on it and for the wonderful guard of honour they gave Michael, a faithful follower, on the morning of his funeral.
Finally a special thanks to our family, wonderful friends, neighbours and extended family, your kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity will never be forgotten. To all who left in food and beverages and to all who worked hard catering for all who attended at our house, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgment as an expression of our gratitude. The holy sacrifice of the mass will be offered for your intentions.
Michael’s Anniversary Mass will be held in St. Brigid’s Church, Clara, Co. Offaly on
Sunday, 3rd December, 2023, at 11.30am.
