On the first anniversary of Pat’s death, his wife Margaret and family Mary, Ann, Carmel, Caroline, Patricia, Patrick and Christine, his grandchildren, brothers and sisters and extended family wish to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss.

Our sincere gratitude to Fr. Liam Murray, for his many monthly visits to Pat over the years, for his kindness and support during Pat’s final days, for celebrating a most meaningful funeral Mass and for his prayers at the graveside. Thank you to Fr. Oliver Devine and Fr. Jimmy Murray O.Carm. for their prayers and masses.

A sincere thanks to those who contacted us by phone, sent Mass cards, letters, messages of sympathy as well as the many condolences through Shannonside and RIP.ie.

To the many people who stood outside St. Matthew’s Church during the funeral Mass, to those who watched Pat’s funeral Mass online and to those who stood in the cemetery with us – thank you for joining us.

We are truly grateful to our relatives, neighbours and friends and we took great comfort from both their presence outside our home and lining the route to the church and the cemetery.

We thank Pat’s many friends and colleagues in Fianna Fáil who provided the guard of honour on the Main Street, to members of the Bog Lane Theatre who provided the guard of honour on the Ballymulvey Road, to our neighbours in Ballymulvey and to all the people of Ballymahon, Forgney and beyond who lined the street and roads to his final resting.

Thank you to An Garda Siochana for traffic management on route to the church and the cemetery, where so many joined us on our final journey with Pat.

We thank sincerely Dr. Colette Kenny and the staff of Ballymahon Medical Centre, for their dedicated care to Pat. We thank Longford Alzheimer’s Society and those who helped care for Pat, along with the Palliative Care Team for their kindness, care and support.

Our thanks to Mary and Marc Nally, Undertakers, who carried out the funeral in a professional, helpful and sensitive manner and to the gravediggers who carefully prepared Pat’s final resting place.

Thank you to Ann Keenan and Padraig McGowan for the beautiful music at Pat’s funeral Mass.

As it would not be possible to thank everybody individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our gratitude and appreciation to all. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.
