As we mark the first anniversary of Patie's passing, we take this moment to reflect and express our heartfelt gratitude to all who supported us during an incredibly difficult time. Your kindness, presence, and prayers brought us comfort and strength, and we remain deeply thankful.
Thank you to those who visited Patie at home — he truly enjoyed the chats and company.
We sincerely thank our dear friends, neighbours, and extended family members who brought food, helped organize the funeral, and supported us in so many thoughtful ways. To everyone who attended the funeral, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us, your presence meant more than words can say. We are deeply grateful for the many Mass cards, online condolences, and countless gestures of kindness we received.
We truly appreciated those who arranged and formed the Guards of Honor, and all who stood silently along the roads in a powerful tribute to Patie. A special thank you to Fr. Larry for the beautiful and meaningful Mass, and to Marion, whose voice added grace and comfort to the service. Our sincere appreciation also goes to Kieran and Teresa O’Sullivan of Fitzgerald's Funeral Directors for their professionalism and gentle guidance throughout. We are thankful to the gravediggers who prepared Dad’s final resting place beside our mother, Lil. We also extend our thanks to the Ring of Kerry Hotel for the wonderful meal provided after the funeral.
We are profoundly grateful to the incredible medical team — Dr. Brian Donovan, Cathy, and Sinead; to Shane and all the staff at O’Neill’s Chemist; to the public health nurses, especially Alice Wharton; and to the home health staff for their compassionate care. We also offer our heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of St. Anne’s Hospital, who looked after Dad with such kindness during his final hours.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a sincere expression of our appreciation and gratitude. A Mass will be offered for your intentions.
Lovingly remembered and forever missed by his children—Mary, Patrick, Noel, Kevin, and Roseanne; sons-in-law Brendan and Finian; daughters-in-law Mary and Anne; grandchildren Jack, Lil, Áine, Sophia, and Isabella; and by his extended family and many friends.
Patrick’s First Anniversary Mass will be held in Daniel O’Connell Memorial Church on Saturday, April 12th at 7:30 p.m.
