1st Anniversary Acknowledgment

As we remember Pete on his first anniversary, we his family wish to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to all who sympathised with us on our sad loss. Those who sent letters, Mass cards, sympathy cards, emails, phone calls and messages on RIP.ie.

We thank especially all the doctors and nurses involved in caring for Pete over the last five years. A special word of thanks to all the staff of the Dialysis unit in Sligo University Hospital. Three days every week they cared for and were so kind to Pete. To the taxi (minibus) drivers who brought him for his treatment, thank you. Their kindness to him was above and beyond and we will never forget it.

We would like a special word of thanks to Dr. Ann Henry. This lady was absolutely invaluable and a great Doctor and friend. We want to thank Dr. Bríd McElgunn, the public health nurses and the home-helps and all the hospital staff who cared for Pete over the years. We want to thank the Palliative Care Nurses who are amazing people and helped us greatly over the last few weeks caring for Pete. We wish to thank the Pharmacy in Coolaney (Hilary and staff) for always being obliging.

A Special word of thanks to Fr. Pat for all the times he called over the years to see Pete and helped so much over the final weeks. To Fr. Ganon for the beautiful Mass when Pete was finally brought “Home” to Elphin. To Brady’s Funeral Directors for their professionalism but also for their thoughtfulness and help. To the gravediggers for preparing Pete’s final resting place. The singers during Mass; Marie, Annette, Eleanor and James. Thank you all.

As Pete’s funeral took place during Covid 19 restrictions it was very different. The neighbours and friends lined the road as Pete left Ballinvalley and this meant a lot to our family. Thank you. The people of Elphin, family and friends who came out to show solidarity as they lined both sides of the town as Pete was brought to his final resting place. Thank you.

As it would not be possible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our sincere thanks and gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
First Anniversary Mass on Sunday 23rd May at 11.30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Elphin. The Mass may be viewed on http://churchtv.ie/elphin and local radio fm106.6.

Forever missed by his beloved wife Marion, brother Michéal, sons Michael and Peter, daughters Lorraine and Fiona, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren and extended family and friends.

“Will those who think of Pete today a little prayer to Jesus say”
