Peter Joseph Glancy.
Geevagh, Co. Sligo & Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim – who went to heaven on 03rd November 2023.
We, Máire, Peter, Aaron and Ava and the extended Glancy and Gormley families wish to acknowledge and thank all those who have stood with us and scaffolded us at this time of immense pain and grief.
To best friends and strangers at the Oireachtas in Killarney, to the paramedics, medical staff and Chaplin in Tralee Hospital who assisted us in our time of greatest need and stood in witness with us at the great mystery of life and death – we are forever grateful.
To our very true friends, amazing family, outstanding neighbours and special colleagues who carried us on the final leg of our journey home from Kerry, on a dark winters night, standing shoulder to shoulder, lighting our path with candles, we have no words adequate to express our gratitude to you. You have displayed to us, the true meaning of solidarity. Candlelight again illuminated the removal from our home to the Church. Never ever underestimate the power of light in the darkness.
To all the kind souls who prepared our home, our Church and village for our homecoming, we are truly grateful. To those who cut hedges, organised lighting, provided transport and traffic management, we shall remember you forever.
To those of you who formed guards of honour, thank you. To those school children who stood in the rain, you shall grow up to be great people. To those who provided refreshments in our home, and the many who provided boundless food, you fed not just our bodies, but also our souls. Thank you.
To Fr. Brian Conlon who nurtured the sacred space around us, for celebrating a beautiful liturgy. To Fr Cullen, Fr. Carroll, Fr. Conrad, Fr. Murray and Fr. Godwin, we thank each of you for your spiritual support. To Kathleen, our sacristan who prepared the Church so beautifully, to the Eucharistic minister, the alter servers, our parish choir and Church singers, thank you for sharing your special talents and support.
To our traditional music and dance family, you have been so supportive. The music you played in the church and graveyard lifted us when we were at our lowest. It is an honour to be part of your tribe. Thank you.
To those from Geevagh.ie who videoed the ceremony so that we could share the celebration with distant friends and future generations, we are truly grateful.
To Tommy Shivnan and his team, your compassionate and good works will go before you. Thank you. To those who prepared the final mortal resting place, thank you.
To each of you who stood by us and came to our home and church, who sent messages and condolences, letters and cards and who lit candles in prayer, thank you. Your support has been an immense blessing to us and assists us in carrying this heavy cross.
As it would be impossible to thank you all individually, please accept this as a heartfelt token of our appreciation.
A holy Mass shall be offered for your intentions. We shall light candles in gratitude to you for a lifetime – that we promise.
God Bless - Máire, Peter, Aaron and Ava.
Peter’s months mind shall be celebrated in Geevagh Church on Saturday December 09th at 8.00 pm.
