Philip HICKEY

 Philip HICKEY

Swords, Dublin / Boyle, Roscommon

The family of the late Philip Hickey, Swords, Co. Dublin and formerly of Boyle, Co. Roscommon, wish to acknowledge the many expressions of sympathy and kindness shown to us during Philip’s illness and following our sad loss.

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Beaumont Hospital for the wonderful care and many kindnesses Philip and ourselves received during his illness.

Thank you to everyone who lit candles and prayed for him during his illness, waked Philip in their own homes when they couldn’t do so with us, especially Philip’s brother Brian and his family in London who were heartbroken not to be able to be with us in person and also everyone who has taken the time since then to pay their respects at his grave.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who took care of us, sent messages, cards, letters, flowers, memorial gifts and shared their special memories of Philip with us. We particularly would like to thank everyone who donated to charities in Philip’s memory. We especially would like to thank our wonderful neighbours and friends in Swords, for showing us the true meaning of home and community during this difficult time.

We would also like to thank Philip’s colleagues, former colleagues, and many friends in eir and our own friends and colleagues in Enterprise Ireland, Scoil Chaitríona and Beaumont Hospital for all of their support, kind messages, and thoughtfulness. We would like to thank Fingallians GAA Club and Scoil Rince Ní Rua for their generosity and the many kindnesses we received from management, mentors, teachers, parents, players, and dancers.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Paul Thornton for his kindness and the beautiful Funeral Mass. We would like to thank Rock’s Funeral home for their sensitivity and respect. We would particularly like to thank Kevin for the poignant eulogy that came from his heart and the beautiful music performed by Féilim. Thank you to everyone who formed his guard of honour, to the Burke, Campbell, and Lynch families for organizing the wonderful Piper, Vinny for organizing the transport and Fingallian’s GAA Club for allowing Philip to be draped with the Fingallian’s colours on his final journey. We would also like to express our deepest thanks to Margaret, Lynda and Fingallian’s GAA Club for organizing and providing the food for after the funeral.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.
