P.J’s wife Marie, son Oliver, daughters Brenda and Terri, sons in law David and Jack, grandchildren Grace and Jack, brothers John-Joe and Bernie, sisters Mary and Eileen, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces and extended family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who sympathised and supported us through our sad loss.
We are very grateful to all who called, telephoned, sent mass and sympathy cards, posted online messages of condolences and made donations to The Irish Cancer Society. A special word of thanks to our wonderful friends and neighbours for all their kindness and support and to those who sent food and refreshments to the house. A special thank you to his friend Michael Martin for all his kindness.
We were truly moved by the huge crowds that lined the route from P.J’s home all the way to Kilnamona Church. When we arrived at Kilnamona Cross, it was so moving to see the council vans lining the road and the Kilnamona flag blowing in the wind supporting us all. Our sincere thanks to Clare County Council, Kilnamona G.A.A, Clare G.A.A, Ennis Singer’s Club and all his many friends and neighbours for providing a guard of honour. It was truly special and P.J would have been very proud.
A huge thank you to Fr Sean Sexton , Fr Martin Blake and Fr Martin Shanahan for concelebrating such a special funeral mass and for their support during P.J’s final weeks at home. P.J's faith remained his constant comfort during his illness. A special thanks to Marian, Geraldine, Eamonn, Andrew, Grainne, John and Mary-Ellen for their beautiful music and singing in the church and at the graveside.
We wish to extend our appreciation and thanks to P.J’s GP Dr Mary O’Brien and her staff of Roslevan Medical Centre and to Denise, Robert and all the staff of Fennell’s pharmacy for their kindness always. A special thank you to Valerie, Eileen and all the Milford Home Care Team , The Community Intervention Team, Night Nurse Ann Normoyle from the Irish Cancer Society and Public Health Nurse Paula Minogue who enabled us to care for P.J at home in his final weeks. We will be eternally grateful. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses in both The Galway Clinic and UHG who cared for P.J throughout his illness.
Our appreciation to his wonderful family and friends who prepared P.J’s final resting place with such care and attention. To Daniel Kennedy, David Talty and all at Kennedy’s Funeral Home for their care, compassion and utmost professionalism. To Donagh and The Grove Restaurant who provided delicious food.
And finally thanks to our wonderful friends and family for your continued support. The Holy Sacrifice of the mass will be offered for your intentions.
