 Ricky Walsh

Carriga, Stradone, Cavan / Ballivor, Meath

Ricky’s wife Kathleen and his family would like to thank all of those who supported us in our recent sad loss.

The shared memories from all of you that offered condolences, phone calls, letters, messages, sent flowers, donations, mass cards, cards of sympathy and wrote messages of condolence on the Northern Sound, RIP and Meath Chronicle websites meant a great deal to us all.

Thank you to our immediate families, for those who stood with us and those who could not.  We know and appreciate that you were with us in spirit.

Thank you to all who prepared and lined the route to the St. Dympna’s Church and to Lavey GAA for the guard of honour held, we are grateful for these kind gestures from our community during this difficult time.

A special thank you to Professor Cuff and her team in the Oncology Unit of St. James Hospital and latterly to Cavan General Hospital for all their care and attention over the last eighteen months to Ricky.

Thank you to Fr. Gerry Kerrins and Fr. Gabriel Kelly for their many visits during his time as a patient in Cavan General Hospital.  Ricky was a devout Catholic and these visits gave him great comfort.

A special thank you to Fr Andrew Tully and Fr Pat Farrelly for their thoughtful ceremony and for their kindness to Ricky in recent times. Also, thank you to Pat Smith, for his beautiful music at the ceremony and Declan Finnegan at Lakelands Funeral Home for his professional and caring arrangements.

Over his life Ricky had been blessed to meet and touch the lives of many people and we are forever grateful that so many of those people have reached out to us to offer kind, funny antidotes that we will keep with us always.

Finally, working at the Meath Chronicle gave Ricky a purpose in life that he truly enjoyed and we are so grateful for the kind tribute they published in his honour.  It gives us great comfort that his time there was so valued.

As it is impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our gratitude and sincere appreciation.

Ricky was always the life of the party, life presented him with many challenges but he always came out singing. Unfortunately for us there will be no more encores!  Ricky will forever live in the hearts and minds of his family and beloved grandchildren.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has been offered for your intentions.

Due to Covid restrictions, Ricky’s Months Mind Mass will be broadcast from St Dympna’s Church, Lower Lavey, Monday, 22nd of February, at 7:30pm on www.churchtv.ie
