Robert COONEY

 Robert COONEY

Castlepollard, Westmeath

The Cooney family and Robert’s partner Alison, want to express our deepest gratitude for the unwavering support and kindness, that our families, neighbours, friends and the people of the numerous communities and sporting organizations, and so many others that have extended to us during the profoundly challenging time of our son's passing.

Losing our beloved son Robert has been an unimaginable tragedy, and it has been the support of individuals and sporting organizations, that has helped us navigate the darkest days of our lives. Your empathy, generosity and acts of kindness have provided us with solace, strength, and a glimmer of hope during this period of profound grief. You picked us up and wrapped us, in your arms, showing untold amounts of comfort and care, this is something that will remain and comfort us for ever more.

We would especially like to mention the following:

1. To our neighbours, family, friends and individuals who called in during the week, your comforting words, presence, was greatly appreciated. Your empathy has eased the burden of our grief.

2. We are deeply grateful for the support provided by Robert’s team mates and sporting clubs and the generous help from individuals, we would like to single out Robert’s close friends that prepared the grave for Robert’s final resting.

3. To the friends and neighbours that gave so generously with the numerous home-cooked meals and food deliveries. These acts of kindness eased the stress and allowed us to focus on healing as a family. To the staff at Castle Varagh for hosting us and Robert’s friends, thank you for your professionalism and efforts.

4. The tributes and cards that we received and the stories told and retold, all in our son's memory, have not only honoured his life but have also given us comfort and a sense of purpose. We would like to especially thank those people, young and old that lined the road on Robert’s return home.

5. The assistance of our friends and neighbours in organizing, erecting the tents, and marshalling the traffic and car park for the removal and the funeral, it was a tremendous relief to us when we were overwhelmed with sorrow.

6. Finally, to the First responders and Cassidy Undertakers for their attention to detail, we are grateful for the care and professionalism that you showed to Robert and our family. To Fr Carley, the Mass readers and singers, no words can convey our thanks and gratitude for the fitting tribute to Robert’s life that you all expressed at the funeral Mass.

We want to emphasize that your support has not only provided us with care and love but has also reminds us that we are not alone in our grief. The outpouring of love and assistance from our community and beyond has touched our hearts in profound ways.

While our pain remains, your kindness has lit our path forward. Once again, thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time. Your compassion has made a world of difference. We look forward to the day when we can express our gratitude in person and continue to remember our son with love and fond memories.

The Month's Mind Mass for Robert will take place in St Feichin's Church, Fore, on the 7th October at 6pm. All Welcome.
