 Robert (Rob) Shanks

Greystones, Wicklow / Tinahely, Wicklow

The family of the late Robert Shanks of Tinahely and Greystones, Co. Wicklow who died on January 22nd, 2021, would like to thank most sincerely all those who sympathised with us on our great loss.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the many friends, neighbours and well-wishers who telephoned, messaged, wrote cards and sent condolences online. The support shown, especially at such a difficult time during covid restrictions, was overwhelming and really appreciated.

A special word of thanks to Rob's motor biking friends, who escorted him on his final journey around Greystones harbour and to all those who turned out to say goodbye. Thank-you to his friends for sharing their lovely memories with us.

We would like to draw attention to the supports offered in Ireland for people who are suffering or feeling alone, especially during the isolation felt by many during these covid times. Please reach out and seek support.

A message from above.
The red breasted Robin,
Ive come to know and love.

Will he come to me this morning?
And will he come to me to stay?
Or will he just show himself,
And then fly away....

Today I did not see him,
but tomorrow I just may.
These little signs from you,
I live for everyday.

Although you may be gone,
Your spirit here to stay.
Your little rays of sunshine,
I see in everyday....

I will remember you always,
Even on my darkest days.
Because this pain I carry,
Will never go away....

So keep watching over me,
and on the days I'm not okay.
And on them days in particular...
I invite of you to stay

My love for you,
Will never fade away....

Because a piece of me went with you,
That day you passed away
