Roger Stead, late of Bruach na Locha, Derrartha More, Carraroe, Co. Galway, and formerly of Bradford, and Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, who passed away on 1 March 2021.
We, Roger’s family, give our sincere thanks to family, neighbours, friends, and well-wishers who gave emotional and practical support in so many ways following Roger’s sudden passing.
We firstly want to thank the paramedics from the ambulance service that attended Roger and tried their utmost to save him, and we thank the Fire Service and Garda Siochana that attended also.
To everyone that came to sympathise, telephoned, sent flowers, letters, mass cards, sympathy cards, texts, photos, and online messages of condolence, we thank you, and we are immensely grateful for your thoughtfulness and memories of Roger that you shared with us.
To all who came to say goodbye to Roger as he left his home for the last time, and to neighbours and friends in and around Carraroe village, outside An Chistin, at Sruthan, and at Casla, that stood outside to bid him farewell as he passed by on his final journey, thank you. He would have been very surprised, and touched, at such a lovely tribute.
To the Reverend Kevin O’Brien M.A., Rector of St Columba’s, Ennis with Kilnasoolagh and Christ Church, Spanish Point, our thanks and heartfelt gratitude for his sympathetic and thoughtful funeral service. Our thanks also to the staff of Shannon Crematorium, who were so helpful and kind to us.
To the many family and friends who could not attend in person because of restrictions, but joined online, thank you for being with us and participating in Roger’s funeral service.
To Padraig Ridge of Ridge’s Undertakers, we give our thanks and appreciation for the arrangements, and for his help and kindness throughout.
And finally, our thanks to all who donated to the RNLI, a cause very dear to Roger’s heart.
To everyone that helped in any way, your contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.
Roger is very much loved, and sorely missed. He will be forever remembered and treasured in our hearts.
