Who passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 2nd 2021

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude & thanks to our wonderful cousins, neighbours, friends, Stephen’s former teaching colleagues/friends, former pupils & co-workers who gathered around Stephen’s home & prayed with us during Stephen's repose. We are grateful to everyone who walked & lined out in support along the route as Stephen travelled for the last time from his home to Realt Na Mara church, as well as everyone who attended Stephen's Requiem Mass & joined us via the parish webcam & online for the Mass.
We also want to thank everyone who telephoned, travelled long distances, sent floral tributes, Mass & sympathy cards, condolence messages on Facebook/RIP.ie & texts messages. Many thanks to everyone who generously donated to "Cancer Care West" or "Croí", the work they do is invaluable.
Thank you to our cousins, neighbours & friends who provided food.
During a difficult & heart-breaking time, your kind, sincere words & actions brought us great comfort. Despite Covid's restrictions, we have been overwhelmed by the love, support & sympathy shown by our cousins, neighbours, friends, Stephen’s former teaching colleagues/friends, former pupils & co-workers.
A special word of heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Michael Brennan for celebrating a beautiful Requiem Mass & for his support & guidance during this difficult time. Padraig, Joe Joe, & Ridge's Funeral Directors for their professionalism, kindness, & unending support during this difficult time. To the wonderful Joe Hearty & the gravediggers for preparing Stephen's final resting place with great care & respect.
Thanks to Christine & Elizabeth Carrick who provided such beautiful music & singing during Stephen’s funeral Mass.
A special thank you to the doctors & nurses at UHG who cared for Stephen during his illness. Dr. Ray Doyle & everyone at Barna Medical Centre who helped &cared Stephen over the years. To all the staff at McSharry's Pharmacy - Knocknacarra, for their unending support & kindness.
Heartfelt gratitude to Kathleen, Mairead & the entire Casla Home Care, Galway Hospice Foundation, & Palliative team who did so much for Stephen in his final week, as well as the wonderful support they provided to us as family.
Very special thanks to the entire Clarke, Dore & Geoghegan, Ridge families, Stephen's beloved sister Delia & the entire Connolly family (Boston), Mary Bourke Fox & family (Boston), Ann Burke, Galway Wedding Centre, Moycullen Plant &Tool hire, Marsh Ireland & Terryland Laundry Centre for their love, support, & kindness during Stephen's difficult journey & in the last few weeks.
Thank you so much to Stephen's adored wife & our wonderful mum Nancy for her exceptional nursing care, support, kindness, & unending love she provided to Stephen over the years, particularly during his long illness. We are eternally grateful to you.
Thank you to everyone who assisted in any way. Because it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our heartfelt appreciation & eternal gratitude.
Finally, our adored & beloved Stephen, an amazing husband & dad, thanks you for everything; you are deeply loved & will be missed beyond words.
Stephen's Month of Mind Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 6.30 p.m. in Mary Immaculate Queen Church in Barna, & those who are unable to attend are very welcome to join via the parish webcam.
