Syl (Sylvester) Cunningham

 Syl (Sylvester) Cunningham

Tividinna, Culloville, Castleblayney, Monaghan / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Syl’s family, his wife Irene, his sons Aaron & Caolán, his daughter Aphra, and extended family, would like to express our sincere thanks for the kindness, support and sympathy shown to us on our sudden and sad loss of a cherished and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

As we remember and sadly miss Syl at this time we are truly grateful to the emergency response paramedics and ambulance services and the doctors, nurses & care attendants at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, who went above and beyond the call of duty to attend to Syl and for their compassion shown to us.  This will never be forgotten.

Sincere gratitude to Monsignor Shane Mc Caughey St Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross, for celebrating a heartfelt eulogy and funeral Mass and to Fr Daly, Donaghmoyne, who called to the house and prayed for Syl. Our appreciation to the sacristans, Martin & Breda, the eucharist ministers and those who prepared Syl’s final resting place with great care and attention.  A special thank you to the soloist and musicians, Naomi, Martin and Gerry for the beautiful music at the church and the grave side.  All of which is greatly appreciated.

To all who formed guard of honour outside the church and along Syl’s journey to his final resting place - Donaghmoyne Fontenoys GAA Club, children and teachers of Gaelscoil Lorgan, HSE colleagues, and others, we thank you all for such a lovely gesture.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped, supported and shared wonderful memories of Syl’s life with us, those who kept vigil with Syl, sent messages, offered condolences in person and on RIP.ie, telephoned, texted, gave Mass cards, sympathy cards and flowers, called to our home with refreshments and assisted in so many other ways, we will always remember your thoughtfulness and kindness.

The family are truly grateful to those who travelled from near and far to be with us at a time of great sorrow, and to those who attended the wake, removal, funeral Mass and burial.

Our gratitude to the ‘Valley Lodge’ for the lovely food and kind hospitality following the funeral and to ‘Flowers by Ann’ for the beautiful floral arrangements.

We would most sincerely like to thank Lonergan Funeral Directors Catriona, Padraig & Seamus for carrying out their duties with such dignity, total respect and professionalism and for their expert assistance and advice at all stages.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually please accept this as an expression of our deepest appreciation and gratitude. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

Months Mind Mass for Syl will be held in
