The sons, daughters, sisters, brother, grandson and extended family of the late Verney McCabe wish to express sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who sympathised with us following our recent bereavement which occurred on 8th May 2023.

Heartfelt thanks to the many people who attended the wake, removal, funeral Mass and cremation service and to our kind neighbours, relatives and friends who supported us in so many different ways. Thanks also to those who sent messages of sympathy, Mass and sympathy cards, letters, telephoned, sent emails and text messages and who travelled long distances to be with us and to everyone who donated to Muscular Dystrophy Ireland.

Special thanks are extended to Home Instead Homecare Ltd, Carrickmacross and particularly to Verney’s personal carers – her 'A Team' - Majella McEneaney and Ann Finlay, her 'B Team' - Bernie Rooney and Riina Siivak Laanet, and also to her additional carers, Anne Shekleton, Teresa Crosby, Ann Creigh, Sarah Muldoon, Catriona O'Reilly, Armida Naujokiene and Evelyn Reyburn. Your attention to every detail to ensure that Verney’s days and nights were as comfortable as possible was always much appreciated by her and will never be forgotten by us.

Sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for their expert professional care of Verney on many occasions and particularly in her final weeks. Special thanks to all staff members on the Boyne East Ward and to the Palliative Care Unit there for their attentive and compassionate care of Verney in her final days. That attention and compassion was also extended to Verney’s family members who were present and is also greatly appreciated.

Our sincere gratitude to the HSE for its home support for Verney over the course of her long illness. Particular thanks to District Nurse Diane McMahon and to her predecessor Doreen McCourt, to Occupational Therapist Mairéad O’Connell and to the many other HSE professionals who attended Verney over the years. Our thanks are also extended to the HSE Doctor-on-Call team, Castleblayney and to the ambulance paramedic teams for their swift attendance and expert emergency care whenever they were called.

Sincere thanks are also extended to the doctors, nurses and staff of both Cloughvalley Group Practice and Avenue Group Practice, Carrickmacross and to the management and staff of Eakin’s and McGuire’s Pharmacies, Carrickmacross.

We also wish to sincerely thank Monsignor Shane McCaughey P.P. Carrickmacross, who celebrated Verney’s Funeral Mass and for his touching eulogy.  Thanks are extended also to the readers, sacristan, altar servers, eucharistic ministers and pallbearers, to Pat and Lorraine Cotter and the choir and to organist Padraig O’ Reilly.

We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Deery’s Funeral Directors, Carrickmacross for their professionalism and efficiency. A special thank you to Micheál for his valued advice, guidance and friendliness. Thanks also to Ian Fee and all at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan Town for their professionalism and attention to detail which was also greatly appreciated.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually we trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere gratitude. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions. Verney’s Month’s Memorial Mass will be offered in St. Joseph’s Church, Carrickmacross on Friday evening, 16th June 2023 at 7.30pm.
