BURKE, Walter

Cloontuskert, Lanesboro, Roscommon (formerly Ballinakill, Galway)

Who sadly passed away on 3rd October 2023

We, the family of the late Walter Burke, wish to express our sincere thanks for the kindness, sympathy and support shown to us throughout his recent passing.

We would like to give special thanks to all Walter's extended family, great neighbours, his many friends and numerous ex-work colleagues and all those who shared fond stories of him with us.

A heartfelt thanks to all those who attended Walter’s Removal, Funeral Mass and Burial. Thanks to all those who offered online condolences, Mass cards, floral tributes and text messages and to all neighbours and friends who dropped in food to the house we really appreciate your kindness and support. To the residents of Cloontuskert who participated in a candlelight reception outside his home on the night of his wake we sincerely thank you for the comfort this brought.

We extend our eternal gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU ward in Portiuncla Hospital, Ballinasloe for the excellent care shown to Walter during his short illness there.

To the extraordinary staff of Innis Ree Nursing Home, Ballyleague for the wonderful care and support provided to Walter over the past few years, we will be forever thankful to you all.

Sincere thanks to Noel Carberry and Nuala Donlon for providing the beautiful music so personal to Walter for his funeral mass and burial.

To our wonderful local gravediggers Sean, Johnny, Padraig, Peter, Enda and Brendan who opened and closed the grave, we are extremely grateful.

Our thanks to our local priest Fr. Dan for celebrating the funeral mass and for his assistance in the preceding days before it and to our Mass Server Sinead.

Thanks to St. Faithleachs GAA club for the Guard of Honour outside the church and the use of their premises and their assistance with the funeral party afterwards. Thanks also to Stephen Dowd for providing the first class catering.

Thanks to Pat Smyth Funeral Directors and family for their professionalism, guidance and kindness provided to us in organising the funeral.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we hope this acknowledgment will be accepted by all as a token of our appreciation.

Walter’s Month’s Mind Mass will take place in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballyleague on Sunday, 12th November at 11am.
