Little Flower Penny Dinners

The Little Flower Penny Dinners is a food charity based in Dublin 8 that has been providing meals and place of comfort to people in need since its establishment in 1912.

Home cooked meals are served in our premises on Meath Street every weekday at 12:00pm and our meals-on-wheels service operates 365 days a year to ensure that the elderly and housebound have access to a warm meal every day of the year.

As we always say, we are about so much more than just the food. Food is important, we all need it – but we provide more than that. We give people respect and dignity in a safe environment. We like to think people leave full of good food and full of joy.

People need our help more than ever. We rely on donations to survive and to continue serving people. Every donation large or small makes a huge difference to us. We are truly grateful for the support we receive from the ones who use the service; to those that support us by deed and financially; our suppliers and those that just smile and say hello as they walk past.

The charity was named in honour of our patron St Thèrese of Lisieux, widely known as the Little Flower; and started with donations from local parishioners of one penny per week. Hence the name; The Little Flower Penny Dinners. Our premises is still in the same location where it all started over 110 years ago.

Our Vision is that the Little Flower Penny Dinners will provide those in need with support, service and a place of welcome.

Our Mission is that Little Flower Penny Dinners provides ‘Food for the Body. Food for the Soul’.
