The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland is committed to helping donkeys in need. Since we opened our gates in 1987, we have loved and cared for over 5,600 neglected and abandoned donkeys from across Ireland.Our team of welfare advisers work hard to provide life-saving care to donkeys who are suffering from neglect or abandonment.
Today we have over 1,700 donkeys and mules in our care. Over 530 of these donkeys reside in private Guardian homes throughout the country as part of our Rehoming Scheme and the remainder of the donkeys are based at our four farms in the Liscarroll area.
We also provide vital support to hundreds of donkeys and their owners across the country each year. We provide veterinary and farrier services as well as private rehomings to ensure these animals are safe and well taken care of.
Knockardbane Farm is open to visitors and it is home to 150 donkeys and mules. You'll discover the stories behind their rescue and learn more about the important work being done for donkeys across Ireland. As a charity, we believe that our supporters should be able to visit free of charge. However, we welcome donations to help support our work.
