Thomas William (Billy) Thompson

Thomas William (Billy) Thompson

Glandore, Cork
/ Bray, Wicklow / Derry City, Derry

As we lovingly remember Tom on the first anniversary of his death, the Thompson family would like to acknowledge with deep gratitude all those who offered their condolences and support to us since his passing.

We would like to thank all those who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters of sympathy, online condolences, phone calls and text messages at this sad time. We would especially like to thank those who called to our home and brought food refreshments, in particular thanks to John Field for the abundance of foodstuff delivered to the house. Thanks also to the Celtic Ross Hotel for providing a beautiful lunch on the day of the funeral.

To those who travelled long distances, especially Tom’s family in Derry, we say a special thank you. It meant so much to have them with us that day.

We would like to express our gratitude to Dr Ivan Martin and his team at Rosscarbery Medical Centre for their attention and care. Thank you to Noelle and staff at Rosscarbery Pharmacy who were so kind and attentive to our needs. We would also like to thank Trish, the Public Health Nurse, and the Home Help team of Helen, Amy and Laure, whose visits were always welcome and Tom truly enjoyed the lively discourses and looked forward to them.

Thanks to Shanahan Funeral Directors who sensitively guided us through the different stages with kindness and gentleness. A special thank you to Fr Terry O’Brien and Fr Curran who helped us organise the Mass. Fr Terry’s beautiful words and gentle presence brought us great comfort.

We are particularly grateful to Martina French who provided beautiful music at the church and her rendition of  “The Town I Love So Well” was a fitting tribute. Thank you to the friends and neighbours who stood along the route to the church. We know many people wanted to be there but were unable to travel due to the restrictions of the time. Thank you for reaching out to us.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of your gratitude and appreciation. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Tom’s First Anniversary Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, 2nd October at 10am at Kilfachtnabeg Church, Glandore.

We were a good team.

We miss you so much.

Rest in Peace
