Kathy Casey Byrne

 Kathy Casey Byrne

Ardagh, Limerick / Naas, Kildare

On this the first anniversary of Kathy’s passing, we, her husband Noel, parents Pat and Daphne, brother Conor, sisters Melanie, Vanessa and extended Casey and Byrne families, would like to acknowledge and thank most sincerely all those who sympathised and supported us during the past year. We are forever grateful to all those who have helped us in so many different ways; the generosity, love and support of Kathy’s many wonderful friends, of our relatives, friends and neighbours during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who visited our homes, attended the removal, funeral mass and month’s mind mass. To those who travelled long distances to be with us, sent floral tributes, phoned, sent mass cards, sympathy cards, letters and texts, and to those who made charitable donations, we really do appreciate it all. To all those who brought food and refreshments and to those who generously gave their time helping us in our home, your kind gestures were much appreciated.

A special word of thanks to Kathy’s GP and especially to all the nurses and doctors in the Mater Private Dublin who looked after Kathy so professionally and lovingly. We know she received the best care and support that was available and for that, we are eternally grateful. So many wonderful people went above and beyond to enable Kathy and Noel’s wedding celebration to take place in the oratory on Sunday, 14th January 2018, especially Pat Coyle, celebrant, and the catering staff and wider hospital community, thank you.

Our heartfelt thanks to the people of Prosperous for their guard of honour at the school as Kathy made her final visit to their town on her journey home to West Limerick. It was moving to see so many people gathered. We are also grateful to everyone in Scoil an Linbh Íosa for their continued support, and we were touched by all the beautiful letters, cards and pictures from the children.

We are very grateful to Fr Tim Curtin for the touching mass, as well as Fr Michael Noonan for all his assistance, and to Fr Dan Lane, Fr John Mockler, Fr Paddy Buckley, and Rev Canon Patrick Comerford for concelebrating. Thanks too to the choir and musicians and sacristan Bernard Kennelly who contributed so much to the service, to Riedy Funeral Directors for their sensitive and professional handling of arrangements. Our thanks to the community in Ardagh: the gravediggers for preparing Kathy’s final resting place, those who helped direct traffic on the day and the hall committee for catering after Kathy’s month’s mind mass.

To those who helped in any way, your support and contribution made our loss more bearable. As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, please accept this acknowledgement as an expression of our deepest gratitude.

The First Anniversary Mass for Kathy will be held on Saturday, 19th January, at 12 noon in St. Molua’s Church, Ardagh. All Welcome.

May Kathy’s adventurous spirit continue to be an inspiration to us all.

We hold you close within our hearts,

And there you shall remain,

To walk with us throughout our lives

Until we meet again.
