Dearest Alan,
thank you for being in our lives, being our friend and being connected by all the lovely and happy moments we shared - often with music and great food.
Twas such a pleasure and honour to have known you for many years - from the earlier days with many great get-togethers with you & Judith, hosted at your place in Renmore - till our last visit in September'25 in Spiddal.
We miss you, Alan, your generous heart, your wonderful music, as well as your great storytelling. We enjoyed your gentle, kind, funny, cheeky, witty, wise old soul...and your radiant smile! So many beautiful memories...
Even when times were hard, you could smile and make us laugh.

May you be at peace and have good fortune on your journey. We wish you a good homecoming.
Our deepest sympathy to Alan's family and loved ones. May you find solace in your shared memories of love and joy with Alan.
There are people we know for the love wich they leave in the world.
To Alan, I leave here my admiration for his journey of integrity and kindness.
May the light of his existence continue to echo in the lives of those who walked beside him.
Dear Alan,

I wanted to write you these lines to tell you how much your friendship has meant to me.
We met many years ago, when I was a slightly lost young woman living in Ireland, trying to understand the world… and also trying to understand your English wordplay, which I didn’t always fully catch, but which made me laugh anyway. You always had that natural joy, those jokes, that generous way of being that made everything feel lighter.

Judith and you became a second family to me at a very important moment in my life, and that is something I will carry with me always.
I will never forget your music. Watching you play the guitar at home, giving me songs as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Cavatina will always bring me straight back to you; every time I hear it, you appear instantly, guitar in hand, with that calm presence of yours.
I keep such a warm memory of your trip to Spain — Seville, "La feria" … sharing my country with you and Judith was a true gift.

I want you to know that you leave a beautiful mark on my life. I will hold on to all the good we shared — the laughter, the songs, your bright way of being. That does not fade.

Lots of hugs and love for you, dear Judith

Always with me.
Matilde.
Rest in Peace dear Alan 🕊️ Sincere condolences to all your friends and loved ones 🤍 You will be sorely missed by many
Alan - with your lovely cheeky smile - you will always have a very special place in my heart.

I love to think of all the afternoons and evenings we spent together in Renmore, fifteen years ago, making music together, playing guitar and singing, with you and Judith. I still dearly treasure the guitar I got from you and what you taught me as my teacher. We also trained for the Galway Bay Half Marathon together back then, you, Nik, James and I, with you cheering us on with fun military rhymes while we trained. You just knew how to enjoy life - and I actually don’t think I would have run 22 km without those training sessions before.

I feel very blessed that I got to know you and that I got to spend this time with you. It always felt good to be in your and Judith’s company, safe and loving.

See you with our guitars and a pint again in the music corner in heaven, Alan! Big warm hug, Carla
Alan, what a wonderful person u was. Full of joy and wit, never in bad spirit.

Alan was a wonderful neighbour. We were so lucky to have his humour, music and friendship in our lives. He lived lightly and spread joy to others, particularly to the young people in his life, with whom he was always ready to play and trick act, even when he was ill. Our deepest sympathy to Judith, and to Alan's nieces, relatives and friends. We will miss him very much and think of him often.
Dear Alan, I can't believe you're not around anymore. I'll never forget your broad smile, wonderful stories, beautiful music, and your many patient attempts to teach me to play the piano (even online). The love between you and Judith is so special and wonderful to be around. You made the world a better place. Thank you for all of that.
