Ben was a man whose zest for life was remarkable and infectious. Time spent in his company was never wasted and tears of laughter were guaranteed. A “one off” if ever there was one. Thanks for all the fun and laughs, Ben-you’ll never be forgotten. ❤️

My memories of Ben go back to the early seventies when four of us blokes shared a delightful country residence for a few years in the heart of Cavan’s Lake-district. People scatter but contact continued through meeting in McCloskey's prior to and subsequent to matches in Bóthar Lansdún and also for bank holiday week-ends on Achill Island.

He was one of those generous, caring and colourful characters one meets but occasionly and we were privileged that he befriended us on his arrival in Galway.

We have many wonderful memories of time spent in his company - routine outings with Ben so often turned into magical mystery tours with fun and laughter always to the fore.
