To the Fitzpatrick family, i wish to extend my sympathy to you all on the death of your wife, mother and grandmother.
Both I and my family are in her debt. She was an amazing teacher who was years AHEAD of her time. I left Ballyhaise NS, unable to read and sadly I was given the label of stupid.
During the summer before I started in secondary school I went to Bernie, twice a week. She diagnosed me with dyslexia. The word dyslexia was not even know in 1987, but she was able to identify the reason I was unable to read. Years later having finished college and was working i was tested for dyslexia and had same confirmed.
Bernie's patients and kindnesses to me was absolutely amazing and together with the support and love of my own mother i am the man I am today. Able to support my own family and contribute greatly to society.
So thank you Bernie, I wish you eternal happiness and I will always appreciate what you did for me.

It was with great sadness that we the received news of Bernie's passing. I offer my sincere condolences to her beloved husband Pat, to her daughter Marian, sons Joe and Kevin and partner Wanna, her grandsons Christian, Patrick and extended family members. So sad to hear of the passing of Bernie Fitzpatrick. What a lovely woman she was. So gentle, pleasant and understanding. Was at the fore of setting up a parents association for Ballyhaise N S and was always a great support to the school.So sorry not to be around but I sincerely pass on my own condolences and those of the school community. In expressing my sincere thanks to a wonderful lady I pray her dear soul may rest in peace.
