Belated and sincere condolences to all the family and the many many people who knew Billy. Sincere apologies for not writing sooner. I was in the bed across from him in the Mater Hospital. He was some character. Poor Billy was in great condition and form but unfortunately went downhill very fast. I was absolutely shocked when I heard about his demise. May he rest in peace 🙏 🙏🙏

I was so sorry to learn of my dear friend Billy from a long time past. I will always remember our travel by car from Dublin via UK to Germany and back. Condolences to his wife and family

Dear Deirdre and family. Tanya and I are so saddened to hear of Billy's passing over. Billy and Deirdre were so kind to me and my brother when our father died. Billy contacted us to let us know that Aidan was low and treated us like family during that period. He continued his kindness to our family during subsequent visits and during our son Colin's year at Trinity College. He was so proud of his family and a good friend. He definately left his mark on the world through his family, his work and his kindness to others. God's blessings to his family and may your memories bring you comfort.

I am so sorry to hear of Billy’s passing I just found out today. My Partner Brian was a great friend of Billy’s and I had the pleasure of being invited to a party in their beautiful home. My deepest sympathies for your heartfelt loss.
Although I did not know Billy my mam Jean was in the same ward in the Mater & coincidently they discovered through chatting, that they knew each other from their younger years both being from the same part of Dublin. Billy brightened up the ward every day with his wit, charm & conversation. My mam spoke of his lovely family every day we visited & how he mentioned how proud he was of his son Shane who was so considerate of every patient in the ward often dropping a coffee down on my mams table without a word when visiting his own dad & of his daughter Sinéad living in Australia. We were all so saddened to hear of his passing, my own girls included such was his spirit. May that spirit live on eternally & give you strength in the future.

I have so many wonderful memories tucked away in my heart — picnics that turned into days of belly laughs, Uncle Billy stopping traffic on a busy Dublin street just so he could make a right turn, and most recently, him moving mountains to make one of my wishes come true — a visit to the Warner Brothers Making of Harry Potter studio. The list truly is endless.

He was one of a kind. He used to tease me for still calling him “Uncle Billy” after all these years — but he’ll always be Uncle Billy to me.

I wish I could be there to give you all hugs. His bright spirit and big heart will continue to shine in all our memories.

We came to know Billy just over a decade ago, initially as a supplier who quickly became a friend and later, for a brief time, as a colleague. He was a big man with a big heart who always had a big smile. He would often say how much he thought of us. We hope he knew how much we thought of him, too.
