R.I.P. Ben. A wonderful man who was loved by everybody in the League of Ireland. He gave us memories that will last for ever.
So sorry to hear of Ben's passing. My condolences to his family and friends. The word legend is often used loosely to describe past League of Ireland players but not in Ben's case. He along with his good friend and Shelbourne player Eric Barber (also passed), were true legends and great players in League of Ireland. I had the pleasure of playing with Ben in the early 1970's when I was in my early 20's and most notably the 1973 F.A.I. cup final which also included Eric, which we unfortunately lost to Cork Hibs after a replay. Rest in Peace Ben. Tony McDonnell Shelbourne F.C.

Very sorry to hear of Ben's passing. I lived next door to him on Belvedere Road for many years and he was always so kind and friendly, a lovely neighbour. He told us many stories of his great footballing days. There'd always be a friendly wave on days when I arrived home from work and he would be standing at the gate, watching the comings and goings on Belvedere Road.
My deepest sympathies to his family.
May he rest in peace.
Rest in peace Ben. Condolences to his family.

I am very sad to hear of Ben’s passing. He was my idol when he was in Oriel Park. Years later, when I bumped into him at an international match, I told him this. We reminisced about that great Dundalk team every time we met subsequently. I wish to convey my sincere condolences to his extended family. What a legend! Ar dheis De go raibh a ainm dilis
