Sincere sympathy to Margaret and family on the death of Brendan. He was a good friend, a valued and respected colleague in St Munchin's College from the early sixties until his retirement. A man of many talents, he was great company; I remember an occasion when he sang a Greek language version of the Delia Murphy ballad "Three lovely lassies". Many memories! Requiescat in Pace.

Farewell - my old racing pal. You were there for the good days as well as the many bad days. You could handle the many reversals/setbacks in the same manner as any successes that were forthcoming. Very few can manage that. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his wife Margaret and daughters - Eileen and Una - in addition to his son John and Brendan's extended family. Brendan was the essence of decency, sincerity, kindness and humility. Brendan adored his family as well as his many friends. His daughters joked that I led him astray to which I replied - he didn't need much encouragement. Brendan celebrated his 90th birthday over 14 months ago which was a great occasion for all concerned. I informed his daughters that Bishop Willie Walsh always seemed to be present for the McNamara state occasions. Brendan told me that he had visited the German concentration camps on the mid 1950's where the stench of death was over-whelming. The laws of libel prevent me from recalling some tall tales from the racing game. RIP Brendan - rest easy - my old friend - you were one of the last stalwarts of old Ennis. You remained steadfastly true and loyal throughout your life to old fashioned christian values - winner alright.
