I have very fond memories of Carmel from our years working in the University - she had such a calm, easy presence, along with a sharp wit that made her very good company. Carmel was one of a group of five of us who met regularly for a morning coffee and so, over the years we became friends, more than colleagues. It was my privilege to have known her.
Sadly, I was not able to attend her funeral. My deepest sympathy to all of Carmel's family on their .painful loss.
