Cionnaith was one of the first friends I made when I came to Clonakilty 34 years ago, thanks to our mutual involvement with the Clonakilty Singing Club.
He was one of the kindest, gentlest men that it has ever been my pleasure to know, and throughout the years was always warm and welcoming.

He will be sadly missed.

He is a huge loss to not only his family but the community as a whole. So sorry we missed his funeral but we were away for a few days.

Everyone who was privileged enough to know Cionnaith could only say great things about how caring, kind, and humourous he was.
As a past pupil of the Gaelscoil, I have numerous memories of Cionnaith contributing to the school, always going above and beyond for his colleagues and students.
His dedication on advocating for the Irish language and for the people of Clonakilty is nothing short of admirable. A devastating loss to our community.

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of Cionnaith and my deepest sympathy to all the family.
Cionnaith lived and breathed for his beloved Clonakilty in so many ways and through different organisations and really enjoyed doing the notes for The Southern Star. He was a most deserving and excellent Mayor and anoutstanding public representative.
The first events I covered as a reporter back in 1977 were the District Court and UDC in Clonakilty. In subsequent years, I met Cionnaith who was always most helpful and courteous to me personally and I will always remember that. You have done your town, county and country great service Cionnaith. May you rest in peace.

Deepest Condolences to Nina and Family and all of the O'Sullivan Family.

Cionnaith was a man of great conviction, a union man, who believed in the collective, always a voice for his fellow workers in the trade union movement. He was deep rooted locally, in his activism, in Clon and West Cork in general, a voice for the vulnerable, who always stood up for his community.

A well respected and principled man all round, he often brightened up a room with his great sense of humour. A solid Republican, who always encouraged others along the way, including myself. He would have been a TD had circumstances prevailed. Despite being such an influential and inspirational figure, Cionnaith was selfless and he was the definition of a Community Activist.

As parents of páistí in the Gaelscoil, Cionnaith was the most wonderful person for them to meet when they walked in the school door. His sense of humour and witty personality made the boy's laugh so much. They would come home with all sorts of stories about 'Muinteoir Cionnaith'. He brightened up their day and went above and beyond in his role. He will be sadly missed by us all. Sincere Condolences to Cionnaiths family and friends.

Cionnaith advocate whole heartedly for people with disabilities. We were so lucky to have Cionnaith speaking out and standing beside us when we needed to be heard.
