I remember Mr Hanley, from his tenure as principal at Beneavin College. Great man and principal. I'll always remember him that way.

Condolences to the Hanley family on the death of Dan. I have great memories of him as my teacher in the Sacred Heart NS in Glasnevin for 3 years. Lunch times during 1961 to 1963 were spent playing indoor football with him at the back of the classroom in the old hall beside the 'wooden' church. Never to be forgotten memories of an inspirational teacher.

Dan's first teaching job was I believe in The Sacred Heart N.S., a Model School in Glasnevin and in 1st Class I was one of his first pupils.
Dan moved to Beneavin De La Salle College in 1968 coinciding with my move there and I think he tried his best to teach me during another 5 years.
I recall positive aspects of the Sacred Heart 5/6th classes days when we were relocated to a ramshackle hall beside the then "Wooden Church" opposite The Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin. At lunchtime he frequently played indoor soccer with his pupils.
Later in Beneavin, Ballygall, I recall during the 60s' that he was a major influence in the school teams conquering Europe in soccer when obliged to play as "Real United" due to the school authorities then Rugby bias.
