To all of David's family we send our sincerest condolences. I had the pleasure of spending 2 weeks in the same ward as David in St Vincent's hospital & he was so upbeat in spite of all his illnesses. We must have driven the rest of the ward crazy with all the laughter. Finn, your granddad loved you so much & delighted in talking about you.

Hugely saddened to hear about the passing of Dave.

I was lucky to have him as a coach, mentor & friend for many years. He thought me what it was to be professional and more importantly what it was to be a man. He will be remembered fondly by many and his legend will live on forever.

I have only heard of the passing of David today. Such a sad time for all of you. He was a very good person and we had lots of laughs and partying during our younger years in Portrane . My condolences to Pamela and all the family . May he rest in peace.

I was very sad to hear of Dave’s unexpected passing. He was unique - one of the most remarkable individuals I have had the privilege of calling a dear, long-time friend, both as an athlete and later in life in my now-role as an academic and applied sport psychologist.

Once Dave was 'in your corner', he stayed forever.

Dave’s dedication and warmth will live on in the memories of the countless lives he so generously touched. I will carry on my work in honour of my treasured friend - much respected and admired - he will be very much missed.

He was a great friend and taught me alot and was willing to allow me watch he lovely training sessions in Energia Park. Rugby and Energia Park will never ever now be the same with out him.

Dave was one of the most genuine people I have ever had the joy to get to know. He cared for every player that came under his wing in Leinster and looked after them like his own. And for those who worked with him there was never a dull moment.

Dave will be remembered fondly here in Rhode GAA Club having worked with our Senior Footballers as a Strength and Conditioning coach. Dave came on board in 2005 and was a key part of our successes for several years. Dave raised the bar in our club’s attitude to S&C and our players benefitted immeasurably. He will be remembered for his professional attitude but also, for his humour and good nature.

My deepest sympathy to the Fagan family on the recent passing of a good friend Dave.

I watched as he took both Leinster U20 and Ireland U20 players under his wing and his attention to detail was second to none. His ground work with what are now (and were) professional players is a legacy he has left behind, and we can confidently say that Dave's work had a huge influence on the recent successes of both the Leinster and Ireland rugby teams.

Sincere sympathies to Pam and the family on Dave’s ( rip) passing .A lot sports people reached out to him over the years and regardless of the activity he was most helpful to all . Leinster Rugby will find it difficult to replace him as he had so many qualities and experiences to pass on.

Sincere sympathies to the Fagan family on Dave’s untimely death. Remembered by his former Dublin City Harriers colleagues with great fondness, huge respect and a big smile.

Dave not only competed in the shot, discus and hammer and contributed to some memorable team performances but served on the club committee for eleven years, including a one as Treasurer and three as Captain.

Following his competitive years, he was throws coach to our younger members and subsequently became National throws coach, attending the Olympic Games as Irish throws coach in Barcelona in 1992 and in Beijing in 2008.

Rest in peace, big man.

Our sincere condolences to Pamela and all the family on the passing of Dave. We are very saddened to learn this news and have great memories of Dave when he was in DCH. He was a great character, loved the crack but a very caring coach. We remember in particular our trip to the European XC in Cardiff when we missed the return boat from Holyhead and due to weather conditions all ferries were cancelled. Four of us ended up being stuck in Holyhead for 4 days spending the time in a grotty pub playing darts and plenty of Guinness.

Dave's humour was one of the main things that kept us going.

I had the privilege of working with Dave in Donnybrook and seeing first hand his passion and energy for those in his care. He wanted the best for each and every player who graced the doorstep and his impact on many hundreds of lives can never truly be quantified. Young men learned about themselves and core values that shaped not just budding rugby careers but their adult lives yet to come.

I learned from Dave, I enjoyed countless conversations, I listened intently to fascinating stories and, like all who knew him, we enjoyed many a laugh together too.

You will be greatly missed Dave. Your legacy will live on in the many hundreds of staff members and players whose lives you have influenced.
