I had the privilege of accompanying Dave on his last trip to Wexford, in October last. We toured the Town and walked his first ‘Beat’, as proudly as he did in the 1960’s. To Jennifer and the extended O'Carroll family. I have grave difficulty accepting that David is no longer with us. However I was aware from Dave that he had serious medical condition but that he was on a new trial drug and that his quality of life was quite good. I have been in contact with him quite regularly but the last time I met him was at his big birthday. Dave loves his profession and was a most conscience worker. To his extended family please accept my deepest sympathy on his passing. May he rest in peace 🙏.

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing sincere sympathy to his family at this difficult time

I worked with Dave whilst i was in Shankill and he was in Bray. He was the patrol car driver and I was on the Shankill car, so we had plenty of interaction. In recent years, we met at many Garda-related events. At the Garda Memorial Day last May, Dave invited me to his 80th birthday party that night, which i much appreciated. A great colleague.
