Dear Colm,
I was so sorry and saddened to learn this week about the untimely death of Deirdre. Although our paths only crossed for a short time nearly 30 years ago, I will always remember her friendliness and warmth when I joined the Business school and knew no-one, and her big smile, still there in her photo.
She was taken far too soon and I know the loss for you, your son, and her friends, will always be there but I hope you can feel her spirit with you every day.

I am so sorry to have heard this terrible news about Deirdre. My deepest condolences. Deirdre was one of the nicest, friendliest people I met while working in DCU. Her energy and good nature were infectious and she had a kindness about her you simply could not miss. May she rest in peace.

To Colm and Lucas, I am so very sorry for your loss. While so many families were benefitting from the great work being done by CTYI, your own was silently suffering. I hope you take comfort from the knowledge that Deirdre can have had no better care than to be with her loved ones right through to the end. Her struggles are over, but I'm sure her spirit lives on.

I worked with Deirdre at daa. She was such a lovely lady. Always had time for a chat and never walked past you without a hello and how are you. She made me feel welcome in Ireland.

I remember so many, giggling like teenagers as we tried out make up styles for her wedding in BTs (a favourite spot), pleasant evenings in Harry Byrnes, sneaky mid-week cinema trips and more. We saw each other less during the busy kids' years and were just starting to reconnect when the cruelty of illness struck. Hoping that your countless good times will eventually help you to think of her with more happiness than sadness.

My abiding memory of Deirdre is watching the Heineken Cup final with her and Lucas in Aviva stadium in 2013. I was in Holy Faith secondary school with Deirdre and was in many of her classes. I remember both her lovely parents in their haberdashery shop in Marino.
