So sorry to hear of Denis’s passing – he was a few years head of me at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál in Blarney, but I used to always enjoy our chats whenever I would meet him around the village.

He spotted me at the Blarney v Na Piarsaigh match in Ovens last year and called me over to show me a photo he had found of my own late father, Paddy taken at Kent Station in the 1980s.

It was very kind of him to think of me and save the photo on his phone to show me and we had a great chat about the railway and all the Blarney men who had worked in Irish Rail and CIE over the years.

My sympathies to you all on your sad loss.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend Denis's funeral prayers or mass, as I was away from Cork.

I have many happy memories of working with Denis. He was a very kind and helpful person and he always had wise and encouraging words for me. He was especially helpful to me. I will always keep him in my prayers.
