Denis was a great servant to democracy through his many many years of voluntary work with the Fine Gael Party. He was always a very warm and generous person to meet. He was particularly encouraging to younger people getting involved in politics. His nieces, nephews and wider family circle can take great pride in the contribution he made to his country over his life time.

Every best wish to his family circle and many friends in FG at this sad time.

Both Derval and I were very saddened to hear that Denis had died. I first met him as a 10 year old in the Local Elections of 1967
and he was as kind to me then as he was when I last met him. He was unstinting supporter to Fine Gael and to Garret throughout his political career. He was always most welcome visitor to our house in Eglinton Road back in the day and I know that both Garret & Joan really appreciated his warmth and support particularly in challenging political circumstances.

Dennie was a lovely, gentle man, always a smile on his face whenever I met him. Sincerest condolences to all his family on his sad and sudden passing. May he rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear of sad passing of Denny. Have so many special memories, especially when starting work in Dublin in early 60's when Denny and his late brother Mick gave me many lifts home to Lusmagh! He was a true Gentleman. As a child growing up I loved to meet Dennis in Clearys, he always had a massive smile on his face and a kind word. I knew Dennis through his love of Fine Gael, Dennis was a massive support to my Dad Joe and spent many a day and night canvassing for Dad and Fine Gael at election time.
It was with great sadness I heard about Dennis's passing - he was one of the truly great ones, Kind, funny generous the epitome of a gentleman. Rest in peace Dennis and sympathies to his family and many friends.
