Denis re roofed a shed for me a few years ago. He was truly professional & an absolute gentleman. He had a great work ethic & was a pleasure to deal with in every way . Unfortunately we missed his funeral as we were out of the Country at the time.

You could not have met or known a more sincere, kind, generous, selfless gentleman. Denis was all of the above and a whole lot more. As Denis’s funeral was underway in Kanturk on Tuesday night, I thought of his sister Colette, unaware at that moment of the connection. Minutes later my phone rang and I was told of yer terrible loss. I was glad to be able to make it for the prayers and give my condolences in person.
On the passing of my late Uncle Patsy, Colette reached out with a handwritten note to our family. It was heart warming and showed how people make time to stop and think of others, she noted the “void of loss”.
May you Josephine, Hannah, Daniel, Gerard, Colette, Majella, Teresa , Tim, Muireann and all of Denis’s extended family find strength in your happy memories of Denis through the dark clouds of sorrow and may he be the glimmer of sunshine guiding you from his heavenly home.

Today we said our final goodbye to our good neighbour and friend Denis. We could call upon Denis and Josephine at any time and they were always there for us. Denis's chat at the gate with his arms folded on the pier often lasted an hour discussing all subjects from GAA, local matters of interest and matters concerning our parish of Boherbue. He will be sorely missed and will never be forgotten. Our hearts go out to Josephine and the three lovely lads Daniel, Hannah and Gerard. No doubt Denis will take care of all the family from his heavenly home. We also extend our sympathy to his siblings and all the extended Vaughan and Fitzgerald families. Rest easy Denis.x
