I was most fortunate to commence my first employment as a young Graduate Engineer in Sept 1978 under the guidance of Dermot in the Corpo.
I just retired last Xmas after a successful Engineering career
I attribute most of that success to Dermot
His attention to detail, honesty and support for those who worked for him was second to none
I am away on holidays and regrettably will miss the funeral but my thoughts and prayers are with you all

To Der’s family
Wishing you moments of peace and comfort, the gift of faith and the blessings of hope as you remember and thank God for the well lived life of Der and the many contributions he made to family, friends, relatives and towards the enhancement and betterment of Irish society. May you treasure the loving memories of time shared and enjoyed and the goodness and special nature of the unique person he was. We his Kanturk relatives looked forward to the yearly visits by Sylvia and Der over the years and the quality time shared and enjoyed. They represented the best in character, in manner and in genuine goodness. One always felt better after time spent with Der and Sylvia as they always radiated an interest and caring on all those they interacted with always focussing on their better angles. We were all blessed having interacted with lives of great worth and grace.
Well done Der. We are, truly, proud to call you a relative of significance. Now rest in eternal peace surrounded by the loving light of Jesus as you reunite again with your beloved Sylvia.
Sincerely and with deep sympathy, Thomas and Kathleen O’Leary
