My sincere condolences to all who have known Dirk, as I have myself, as a larger than life character, a true gentleman and a convinced "bon vivant". I cherish fond memories of our years together as members of Mechelen Cricket Club (the one and true MCC!). May he rest in peace.

Uncle Dirk meant the world to me. He wasn’t just my uncle, he was someone I loved so deeply and will miss for the rest of my life. I feel so honoured that I got to be with him at the end, holding his hand and telling him how much he was loved. Thank you for everything, Uncle Dirk. You will always have a place in my heart.
