I’m so sorry to hear of Donal’s passing. I got to know him in the HIOGS where he was incredibly kind to me during my Captaincy. We shared so many laughs both on and off the course and he and his brother Shay were a formidable pair. I have such fond memories of him and particular condolences to Marie of whom he was immensely proud.

Our condolence to the Doherty family at this sad time. Donal always had time to chat and engage , characteristics not found in everyone. He will be missed , prayers offered and a candle is lighting in Corfu for Donal today .🙏🏻

Dear Marie and Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Donal's passing. Although his health had been declining in recent years, Donal bore his illness with great courage and dignity which was typical of the man. A true friend and golfing companion, memories of those wonderful golfing trips both home and abroad, which you yourself Marie and Donal enjoyed so much, came flooding back. His brave battle is over and his gentle soul can now Rest in Peace.

To Aidan, Áine, Claire. So very sorry to hear of your father's passing. Like so many others, I still have a treasured photo in my collection that he gave me many years ago. It was taken at a horse show in the fields behinds us in 1980 something that I presume he was covering. He was kind enough to take some pictures of us kids as well as the professionals. He will be missed. Our thoughts are with you all and your families.

When golfing at "The Island" you'd drop in, which was a signal for your 6 nephews to go totally GAGA, and for the times you spent taking those who were buying their first "real" instruments to every music shop in Dublin, where you made sure they got the best deal, as you seemed to know everyone.
