Smartest and kindest man i had the honour to meet. The love he had for his family was endless, so much so that he almost sent me to America to get eye drops for his wife, twice! Thank you for everything Mr Smith, may you enjoy peace in the hereafter.
Deepest sympathy to all family and friends, I only met Jeff on occasion but he was funny and a wealth of knowledge on his passion for his work in pharma and outside of work, god bless him
I had the pleasure of working with Jeff at two different biotech companies in the Seattle area. I will miss Jeff's sharp wit, candor and ability to translate preclinical and clinical data into actionable R&D strategy. I learned so much from him (science and world history alike)! Jeff brought out the best in his team. He loved his family and cared deeply for the people he worked with. May he rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to Jeff's family. I've had the true pleasure of working with Jeff over the the last few years and instantly felt the warmth of a great friend who brought enthusiasm and passion to every conversation. Refreshingly down to earth, incredibly insightful and a brilliant sense of humor. I will miss my fellow Celt !
Sincerest condolences to Catherine, Alex, Marie and the extended Smith and McCormack families on the passing of Jeff. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Sincere condolences to the family. While I only knew Jeff for just over a year, he left a lasting impression on me. He was a peer and a friend at Zymeworks. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my conversations with Jeff. We would run the gamut of topics from clinical trials to pugs (I shared his love as a fellow pug owner) to rugby (I am a NZer who loved rubbing in when the All Black won against Ireland:)). He was a kind and generous man but his humor and levity were the most memorable. He always found a way to make us all laugh at any point in a meeting. My favorite word that Jeff used was donkey:) I will miss him dearly.
Much love

Jeff was a great leader. He recognized and nurtured hard-working folks and built great teams. He was very light-hearted and funny at times, his stories were inspiring and would always brighten up the room. He taught everyone the importance of time and always emphasized working hard and having a good work-life balance to live life fully. We will deeply miss him, and his stories will live with us always. My sincere condolences to his family.

RIP Jeffrey, I will never forget you and how positive you were, the love you had for Cathy and Alex touched me and bagel! You put up a hard fight we laughed we cried and you’d to listen to my crazy stories. It was a pleasure to be by your side for the past few weeks. Rest now Jeffrey ❤️❤️
My deepest condolences to Catherine, Alex, Marie, Ciara, Siobhan and all the extended Smith and McCormack families on the untimely passing of Jeff - he was much adored by you all and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. May Jeff's gentle soul rest in peace.
My condolences to Jeff's family. I feel grateful to have known him and to share a small memory of him. Our team attended the medical conference. Jeff and I ended up sitting next to each other at dinner and started talking about books. I had just finished The Dune and mentioned that. What I didn’t realize at the time was that The Dune was Jeff’s favorite series. The moment I said it, Jeff lit up. He launched into the world of Arrakis, the characters, and the deeper themes of the books. As we all know, Jeff could talk—and that night he absolutely did. But it wasn’t just talking; it was enthusiasm, curiosity, and the joy of sharing something he loved. It turned into one of the most memorable conversations I had with him. His passion was contagious, and he inspired me to keep going with the series. One line from The Dune has stayed with me since then: “Fear is the mind-killer.” I’ll always remember that dinner and the way he made a simple conversation about books feel like an adventure.
Deepest condolences to Catherine Alex and extended Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. RIP Jeff.

Dear Catherine and Alex, my thoughts are with you at this awful time. I've had the privilege of working with Jeff twice in my career and he was absolutely one of a kind. He was so funny, very direct, and amazingly intelligent. So full of ideas and astute insights .. once he moved on from the topics of world politics, Liverpool, Bagel, or whatever else was on his mind! I loved working with him and we'll all miss him.
Our deepest Condolences to Catherine, Alex & extended Family on the sad passing of Jeff, May He Rest
Dear Cathy & Alex. We are heartbroken for your loss. Jeff was such a gorgeous gent. Always lovely to chat to. So kind. Sending hugs. Paula, David, Anna, Kate & Seán
My deepest sympathies to Catherine and Alex on the very sad passing of Jeff. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this heartbreaking time. I have had the joy of working with Jeff in the Dublin office over the last 2.5 years, and I have so many happy and funny memories to look back on. He was truly one of a kind and one of the best people I have met.

Jeff was an exceptional mentor who had a huge influence on me personally and professionally in the short time I have known him. He was a brilliant people leader who believed deeply in supporting his team. He always made time to check on us and make sure we are doing ok in times of uncertainty. I experienced firsthand how strongly he defended and protected those who worked with him, and I always felt genuinely supported under his leadership.

I will miss his daily updates on current affairs, his morning stories, the continuous distractions(!), his enthusiasm and his guidance. He made us laugh daily. He regularly told us how much he cared for us, he made us feel like family. I feel very fortunate to have worked closely with him and to have truly gotten to know him. Our office is very quiet without him. His loss is hugely felt. Jeff was an extraordinary person, I was very lucky to know him.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
My deepest sympathy Catherine, Alex and the extended family of Jeff (RIP). Thinking of you all at this very sad and difficult time.
My sincerest condolences to Jeff’s family following his passing. Jeff was such a special person who lighted up every room he was in. He was a very important part of our leadership team but was also cherished as a friend to many. Jeff’s sense of humour and compassion for others will always remind us of the very special person he was. May your memories of Jeff comfort you during this time.
Very sorry for your loss Cathy. Thinking of you, Alex, and all you're family and friends
Jeff was a wonderful leader and colleague. I’ll miss his visits to the California office and his chatty candor. He always had something new to talk about and a way of making every conversation memorable.
