My sincere condolences to Paul’s family on his passing. I got to know Paul through his work with the Marine Institute. Paul was a professional and more importantly a gentleman. He will be greatly missed by all.

I was extremely shocked to learn (after the fact) that Paul had passed. I was an old schoolmate (deskmate in 3rd year) looking forward to meeting him at our February school reunion. Sincere condolences on the passing of Paul. I only knew Paul for a short time as a fellow member of the IFI Board and was particularly struck by his deep knowledge, clear sightedness and great commitment to public service. He was a lovely gentleman and it was my privilege to have met him. May he rest in peace.

It's with great sadness that I heard of Paul's passing. Great memories of our time in UCD. Always upbeat, fun loving and popular, Paul was in high demand with his trusty 'tape deck' and impressive music collection and played DJ at many impromptu parties ! His culinary skills showed great potential when he fed half the Zoology department with his tasty fish stews. His love of coffee , way before it became trendy, the occasional pint, accompanied with his trusty bodhran in the company of the late Pat Byrne and Paul Nugent, bring back great memories. I was so sorry to hear about Paul’s death. I knew him when I was an undergraduate, and he was a post-grad in the Zoology Department at UCD in the early 80s. He was always fun, engaging, and entertaining with a mischievous streak that enlivened every social occasion. With all best wishes at this sad time for your family. Maretta Dillon.

Paul was a lovely friend and we kept in touch and met up occasionally including the Terenure College Past Pupil Reunions. He had a great sense of humour and will be greatly missed.

He was always so inspiring when he talked about work but also so much fun just to talk to. I always enjoyed his company. My thoughts and best wishes are with you and your family.
