Saddened to hear of Eddies untimely passing. A credit to his family, his native Skibbereen, and we’re indebted as a nation that he chose to continue his family’s proud service and dedication to the embryonic state as an officer in An Gárda Síochána. He was a natural people’s person and as everyone attested he was one of life’s pure gentlemen who met everyone with his indelible smile. It was an honour to have had Eddie as our Police Duties Instructor in the Academy in Templemore in 1983/84. His delivery of invaluable advice was an inspiration and was not forgotten.
