Edel Purdy

So so sad to come across the news that Edel has passed away. I worked with Edel for awhile and I was just a kid at the time - pretending I was 18 and I just have funny memories of her. She went to the effort of sending me a birthday card for my 19th birthday I was away in Turkey missing home and she was like stay there ya mad thing. She had a huge heart and I’m gutted for her girls. I hadn’t seen Edel in years but will always have good memories of her. How lucky are we to have known her. Love to her family xxx

I only found out about this and I’m devastated ah good friend not only a worker to me over 10 years. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there for her girls I’m thinking of you all I have lovely photos if you want them and Sylvia R.I.P edel I love u so much pal💔💔💔💔

We are deeply saddened to hear of Edel’s passing. Although we didn’t have the chance to know her as well as many others did, we truly felt privileged to have met her. She had such an honest and open heart, and there was a warmth about her that made people feel instantly at ease. It breaks our hearts to think of her young grandchildren growing up without the chance to fully know the wonderful person she was and all she had to offer. Edel purdy what can I say you’ve being in my life since I was about 13 like a second mother I had many struggles In life and somehow you’ve always been there you use to make me tell you stories over and over and what I’d do to make you laugh just one more time. You were beautiful in every way you shined from the inside out I’ll forever miss you I’m broken for your girls, I would always class you as my family “the mad gang” I hate seeing my best friend so broken but I promise you Edel il do all I can for her. I love you Edel and you will always be part of my heart , I only have good memories of you, you beautiful soul. Thank you for showing me true kindness and making me believe there are good people in the world they don’t make them like you anymore :( and thank you Edel for never judging me you were one of a kind. Edel was a much-loved colleague, friend and dedicated presence within our recovery community. Her kindness, generosity of spirit and warm smile brought comfort and encouragement to so many. She gave so much of herself to the work she believed in, and her impact will continue to be felt throughout our community.

Edel will be profoundly missed by her friends and colleagues at ARC and across the wider recovery community. Her deep belief in recovery and hope will continue to guide the work we do.
