I was shocked to hear of Edel's untimely passing. I have fond memories of Edel over the years. She was so bubbly, and always smiling. She was a genuine, gorgeous person. Thinking of her Mam, her girls and grandchildren, her extended family and her friends especially Denise, at this heartbreaking time.

Edel purdy what can I say you’ve being in my life since I was about 13 like a second mother I had many struggles In life and somehow you’ve always been there you use to make me tell you stories over and over and what I’d do to make you laugh just one more time. You were beautiful in every way you shined from the inside out I’ll forever miss you I’m broken for your girls, I would always class you as my family “the mad gang” I hate seeing my best friend so broken but I promise you Edel il do all I can for her. I love you Edel and you will always be part of my heart , I only have good memories of you, you beautiful soul. Thank you for showing me true kindness and making me believe there are good people in the world they don’t make them like you anymore :( and thank you Edel for never judging me you were one of a kind. I could go on and on forever .. Thank you Edel for giving me the chance to get to love and be part of the extraordinary life of Edel Purdy. May you rest in peace you have the wings now . With love and a heavy heart <3

All of us at Addiction Response Crumlin (ARC) are deeply saddened by Edel’s passing.

For 17 years, Edel was a dedicated part of ARC and its recovery community.

Edel was a much-loved colleague, friend and dedicated presence within our recovery community. Her kindness, generosity of spirit and warm smile brought comfort and encouragement to so many. She gave so much of herself to the work she believed in, and her impact will continue to be felt throughout our community.

Edel will be profoundly missed by her friends and colleagues at ARC and across the wider recovery community. Her deep belief in recovery and hope will continue to guide the work we do.

We hold Edel’s family and loved ones especially close in our thoughts at this time.

We are deeply sorry to hear about Edel's passing. She was a pleasure to be around the times we worked with her. Thinking of her family during this difficult time.
