I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Eileen who was a friend to all of us in the Trade Union movement. She simply was a lovely Lady who helped me on many occasions. I always enjoyed the gentle comments about Cork and Kilkenny hurling.

On behalf of the Prison Officers Association, I would like to pass on my condolences to Eileen's Husband Tom and their extended family on the sad, sudden and tragic loss of Eileen. I got to know Eileen very well through her work at the ICTU many years ago. Eileen was always a great person to deal with on any work related matter she will be greatly missed by all in the Irish Trade Union movement. Eileen was a very polite,, decent, warm and friendly person both inside and outside of the workplace. Eileen will be a huge loss missed by many. May she rest in peace. We were so deeply saddened by the news of Eileen's untimely death. No words could express the shock we experienced when Denis rang to tell us the awful news. I was so shocked to hear of Eileen’s untimely passing. I got to know her when she worked in the CWU and ICTU. She was always pleasant and good-natured and so helpful – even to old pensioners like me – and so perfectly competent and never flustered. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The world is a poorer place for her loss. My deepest condolences to Tom and the rest of her family.
