Sincere condolences to all of Elaine’s family on her passing. Catherine, I’ll be thinking and praying for you at this difficult time. May your Mum rest in eternal peace.
I first met Elaine on a November night in 1996. I had been out with Olivia and we came home to Cremore to find her in the kitchen drinking cocoa with at least three daughters. A cup was found for me and I was given what I'm sure was someone else's share. That's how it was, there was always room for one more in her busy, vibrant home full of daughters and books and art. I was one of many made so welcome and I am very grateful. Rest in peace Elaine.
Deepest condolences to the O'Flanagan family, my second family when I was in UCD. Your mum was an incredible woman and well loved by all of you. She raised a family of very strong women who each display an element of her character. My thoughts are with you xx
Elaine was such a lady always . A lovely client to me, for many years. Always a pleasure to deal with. We always had a bit of fun, with her quite adventurous, and ever changing hairstyles. We also had, alot of very interesting, and entertaining conversations over the years. My sincere condolences to all her family. Especially Sarah. Love Tracy

Heartfelt condolences to all the O' Flanagan family on the death of Elaine. She was a beautiful soul. My main memory of her is of the deep friendship she had with neighbours Marie Fitzgerald and our own mother Brenda. They all had large families to manage but found time to meet together. Elaine found time too to nourish her rich inner life through literature. Love to all, Nuala

Dearest Olivia, Sarah, Rachel, Mary Kate, Catherine and Rebecca, I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your lovely mother Elaine. She was such a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was so kind and welcoming to me whenever I came over to Ireland, welcoming me to stay in her house in Dublin one time and always showing an interest in my work and the films we made. We had a lovely day out at the Dublin concert hall when she came to the live performance of the Bear Hunt score. I admired her enquiring mind, wit and intelligence, and it must have been no easy feat to attend Oxford as an undergraduate in the 1950s. You are all such a wonderful testament to her and your father, being the kindest, cleverest and most fun people I know. Your mum clearly did a great job! Sending you all so much love xxxxxx
My sincere condolences on your loss to Mary Kate, Rebecca, Rachel, Olivia and to all of your extended family.

As a friend of Phil & Sarah I met Elaine when I was in my early twenties and then many times over the following twenty five years. She was always welcoming, interesting and interested. Always chatty and would remember lots of details about you.
She once offered some advice about Christmas. As your girls get older and arrangements get complicated; open a bottle of fizz on Christmas morning & you’ll all be in a good mood. Sage advice which I take annually and think of her and her smile. RIP
