Such fond memories of great times in Terrysland on the very many visits to Carrigtwohill over the years. The hospitality of Lily was something to behold and it also never allowed a trip back to Cavan without a bag of Cork’s finest potatoes. In recent years she dispatched hand-knitted baby cardigans to us in Meath.

A treasured evening in Terrysland followed from an unscheduled call one evening to Lily as I left Cork to drive home. That evening, as the four girls gathered together with Lily for dinner, it was the last time they all sat around that same table together, as Joan died the following week. That evening we reminisced about Richard and Paddy who had died the year before.

If anyone deserves the gates of heaven to be swung open, it surely is Lily.
