I feel remarkably privileged to have worked alongside Evan in MIC for 20 years. Lavishly talented, he inspired countless colleagues and generations of students with his exceptional expertise and his generous spirit. Evan was a beloved colleague and role model, admired for his sincerity, affability and unwavering integrity. His calming unflappability and unsparing thoughtfulness never ceased to leave me in admiration. Above and beyond his professional accomplishments, Evan’s love of, and devotion to, his family were the unmistakable foundation stone of his life, and I extend my heartfelt sympathy to Dorothy and family at your great loss. My deepest sympathies to the Morrissey family on the loss of Evan. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Evan was a true gentleman, and probably the most charming man I have ever met. When I came to work in MIC many years ago as a young graduate, he was always kind, friendly and generous with his time and talent. We shared many an interesting conversation on photography and Derrynane. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

We were privileged to know Evan. He was an amazing, wonderful man. We remember his warmth, his love, his wisdom, his smile, his laughter. He had an amazing ability to uplift, and to fill the room with life and make you more than you thought you were. We remember the times at the Maharees, including the International Maharees Invitational, the only Major that McIlroy never won. We remember the gathering at the Conor Pass where Evan made a presentation to our son 3 year-old son, Conor, who for awhile believed that the Conor Pass was named after him. Evan will never die; he remains in us all. Thank-you for being part of our life.

So very sad to hear of Evan's passing. My sincerest condolences to all who loved him and who grieve for him. He was one of my Art lecturers in Mary I. He was a truly remarkably kind and devoted professional. I recall how he loaned me a very expensive camera for a project in MIC in 1997 and spent a lot of time showing me the features of the device to get the best quality images required. Always so eager and interested to help students.

Heartfelt sympathy to Dear Evan's lovely family from your one-time Ashville neighbour and friend. Evan and you all provided helpfulness, friendship and guidance when we first came to live in the delightful neighbourhood of Ashville! We all have so many good memories of those happy days. Evan's big Citron cars, working model train sets in the attic, Evan being the perfect Santa Clause at one of our Christmas parties, Evan's sharing and educating me with his great love of music, of every genre! As an aside, I will neve forget the few weeks, many moons ago when, joined by another dearly departed Asvillian, Kieran Burke, the three of us, kitted out in our ill fitting shorts and singlets used to pound the roads and highways of Ballysheedy in a spirit of fitness endeavour. A most unlikely trio, we must have provided great amusement to the neighbours. I could go on, such happy, happy memories, Evan, there will never be anyone quite like you, you were a Special One. RIP.

Evan was by far and away my most inspiring lecturer in Mary I ! I waited with bated breath for his class each week and rushed off to try and create his suggestions and bring them home at the weekend to my younger brothers and sisters. It has become a life long pleasure to this day and think of him often when making something new. Handome,elegant warm and encouraging. May he rest in peace.

Evan was a lovely person. So empathetic and generous. Autumn, 1970, while supervising students on Teaching Practice, Evan, St Assumpta and I travelled to the Dingle Peninsula to view the village erected for the filming of Ryan's Daughter, Evan driving. It was the first time that I travelled in a car at a 100 miles per hour, on a bad road! Evan gave great help and encouragement to our son, Danann, when he was starting out on his filming career. Evan was a great, dependable, friend and colleague of mine in Mary Immaculate College. In iothlainn gheal Dé go gcastar muid!
