I have been struggling to wrap my head around the fact that Fergus is no longer here with us and then I have been struggling with the right words to say. Fergus was one of those people that as long as you knew they were here, all was right in the world. I met Fergus in early 2000 when he worked for a commercial cleaning vendor that the commercial real estate company that I worked for used. Fergus was one of the kindest, most generous people that I’d met. His smile and laugh were contagious and will definitely be missed. Thank you Fergus for your friendship over these years. I hate that it had been too long since we last saw each other but I look forward to seeing you again some day. Rest in peace dear Fergus.
Fergus O’Kane was a dear friend and so special to our family. We were blessed to be friends with Fergus for close to 25 years. We met Fergus when he worked with Larry at a restaurant in Charlotte. It didn’t take long for us to start hanging out. We had so much fun tailgating together! Many great memories were made cheering on the Panthers and spending time with our friends on Sunday afternoons. Fergus shared his love for and knowledge of photography with me on a wine trip to California. I had a new camera and we had fun trying to get the perfect pics. Izzy, our daughter, loved Fergus and he loved her. One of her treasured memories was when he came to see her in a play. We will miss Fergus, but will treasure our memories. Our deepest condolences to Moya, his brothers, and all of his family and friends in Ireland and in America.

Larry, Kim and Izzy Meltzer
Usually I’m pretty good at putting things down on paper but almost 2 months on and I’m still struggling to deal with this. During Fergs last month, when we got to spend time with Moya, Des and Terrence, I think they heard all the stories and Shenanigans we got up to, and they know how much Ferg meant, not just to me but to everyone he ever came in contact with. In losing Ferg, I lost a Brother and not just a Best Friend. I Miss you Sorely Sir and when we meet again, I’m sure we’ll have plenty to chat about over a few pints and auld Red Breast 💚💚
It had been years since I last saw Fergus, but whenever our paths crossed, we always embraced in a long, warm hug. He was always so encouraging to me, and his presence will be forever missed.
RIP Ferg. A gentleman and a great friend. You will be sorely missed 😢🇮🇪❤️
So sad...genuine nice guy. Rest in Peace my friend.
I used to work with Fergus.... he was a great co-worker and friend. I will miss you sir.

Much love to your family and all those whose life you touched.
Fergus was a lovely and friendly man who though I hadn’t seen in years, would have felt comfortable catching up with at any time. So sorry to hear this and sending much love to his family and friends.
My sincere condolences to Bernadette, Terence and Des and to all of Fergus’s friends and family, here in Ireland and abroad. It was lovely keeping in contact with Fergus with regular messages. He loved his life in America but told me that he missed Ireland every day but that he wasn’t quite ready to come home. He was very generous advising me on my itinerary when planning my Music tour of the states a few years ago. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal.
Fergus - such a sweet man, he brought joy everywhere he went. I can honestly say I never remember seeing him without a smile of his face. He will be missed by so many but joyful is heaven to have him.
I was incredibly sad to hear of the passing of fergus. It’s a long time since we last shared a pint or two but my memories of the evenings we laughed and joked around the bar in Bulgaria will always be with me. May you rest in peace my friend. My deepest condolences to Des and all the family and close ones from your scouse mate Paul xx
My deepest of condolences to Moya, Bernie, Des and Terence and all Fergus's friends and family all around the world, Ferg will be missed and is so loved by us all.

It is so hard to put into words what the loss of our dear Fergus means to us one and all, I am not sure that I will ever recover from his loss or indeed if I want to, as I want to continue to have him in my life every day.

Ah Fergus, I am so going to miss you my friend, our weekly(sometimes 3 times a week) meets for a cuppa and a chat and instead of shutting down the pub we shut down the cafe. I am going to miss the many debates we had from sport to politics and much more besides, we tried and tried to solve the worlds problems, i'm going to miss that dastardly humor but most of all I'm going to just simply miss you my friend. There is a small piece of me that died that day with you and I hope that you hold onto it for me until we meet again.

I was beside you as we meandered through this journey and here at the end I am not saying goodbye but merely "Slan abhaile mo chara" we have a bit more to go on the Journey, Waterville and Ireland are waiting for the homecoming. Love ya Ferg⛳️💚💚💚💚

Ferg, you can always come and visit.
We met in 1999 when we worked together at The Capital Grille, and like most who crossed his path, we became fast friends. Fergus had that rare gift—his big smile, twinkling eyes, and sharp wit could light up any room.

So many memories come to mind, but a couple stand out. One night in New York City, Fergus, a whole crew of fellow Irishmen, and I walked into a pub in the early evening—and walked out at sunrise. Naturally, we topped it off with a huge Irish breakfast, where I had my first (and last) taste of blood pudding. Then there was his visit to Austin, TX. We, of course, hit 6th Street, found an Irish pub, and—unexpectedly—ended up on a horse-drawn carriage ride. I had lived there for years and thought only tourists did that, but Fergus insisted, and we had an absolute blast. He had a way of making even the simplest moments unforgettable.

I was grateful to see him in the hospital before he passed. Even then, his humor and warmth shone through. He reminded his brother of a story I had forgotten—how I once treated my parents to an anniversary dinner at The Capital Grille and specifically requested Fergus as their waiter because he was simply the best. My dad, hearing about some of the teasing Fergus used to give me, turned the tables and embarrassed him a little—my own small moment of payback. Fergus laughed as he told the story, and we shared one last good chuckle.

I miss my friend. He was loved, always, and I hope he rests in peace knowing how much he meant to so many.
My heart aches beyond words at the loss of my dear friend. He was more than just a friend, he was a brother, a constant source of kindness, love, and unwavering loyalty and support.
I met Fergus fresh off the plane from Ireland when a new Irish Bar & Restaurant opened in Charlotte, circa 1998-2000. We connected at "hello" and remained close over years working together, golf events, wine trips, etc. We had so many amazing adventures together but we also had the personal time catching up after work, Sunday Carolina Panthers tailgates/football games, toasts with a Guinness for another circle around the sun, late-night chats, pep talks. The moments we experienced together seemed endless. I feel incredibly blessed to have shared so many wonderful moments with him. I will miss his playful sarcasm, his witty ways but most of all, his charm and charisma. Fergus, my friend, this life here will never be the same without you but I will continue to carry your love, wisdom and spirit with me always and forever. Memories with you will never, ever fade. And neither will the light you brought to the world! Though you are no longer a phone call away, your love and wonderful memories we created together will forever live on in my heart. My deepest condolences and blessings to Fergus' daughter, Moya, brothers Des and Terry, and all the family and friends who were lucky enough to know and love Fergus. I hope you find comfort in the special times. My heart is with each of you. With love, always
Fergus and I were in the same class in Lohar primary school. We were great pals. Sending condolences to Des, Bernadette and Terrence. May you rest in peace Fergus.
Fergie. Miss you so much! I know you're up there getting everybody to have some of that red breast Irish whiskey. Rest easy. It was a pleasure working with you!!
A great man and always took time for people. Will miss his hearty laugh!
Our deepest condolences to Terrence, Bernadette, Des and Moya. Fergus was always such a kind, sweet person, always looking for the humor in everything we encountered. I have fond memories working with Anne Terry & the gang first at The Golf Links and then at The Old School House Restaurant. May you rest in Eternal Peace my dear friend. You will be missed by all!!! Take Care & God Bless
It was a pleasure to work with you Fergus. You had an admirable way of putting a positive outlook on life. Also the way you carried a bottle of Irish Whisky to a table in the bar like a Master Sommelier was ridiculous funny each and every time. Rest easy my friend.
Deepest condolences to Terence, Bernadette, Des and Moya. Memories of great times spent in Fergus’ company. Rest in peace, Fergus.
Fergus had an undeniable light that he brought with him into every room he entered.
An old but good person and friend. RIP.
Such a lovely guy & loved by many here in Waterville, lots of childhood memories growing up with Fergus.
Rest in peace my friend
Words can not cover the sense of loss and sadness we feel. Fergus was our beloved cousin - kind and funny and caring. Despite the years and the
distance, that never changed.
Deepest condolences to Terence, Des and Bernadette and to our other cousins as well, with much love to you all. May Fergus rest in eternal peace x
I would like to express my deepest condolences to Fergus's family and friends. I count myself lucky to have been include in the latter, though it was many years ago.
Fergus and I worked together for several years in Charlotte, NC, where he struck me as one of the kindest and most thoughtful friends I've had the honor to know. Though I held a very low position, he made me feel important. One year he had taken some time off to visit his home in Ireland and upon his return to work he surprised me with a gift, remembering my birthday had passed while he was away. It was a clock which still hangs on my wall today.
Sláinte to a life well lived.
Sending heartfelt and immense condolences to all who know and love Fergus. The loss is so immense, in that a whole Community grieves while each of us also shoulder the personal burden of losing a truly amazing Irish man. I should say, Kerry man. He would remind you.

We met in early 2010 - thanks to Fergus crossing paths with my husband Fergal in Charlotte, NC. Fergus was truly a unique, human, anchor to Home [Ireland] despite Fergus' moving away many years earlier. His friendship is peppered with immense wit, serious chats on life, health, future & past, and also mundane activities like updating a CV, sharing tea & biscuits, watching golf, etc. I'll remember Fergus for being, Fergus. Doing his best despite all challenges and giving freely of his time, mind and whole heart. His life full of work, people, travel and dreams. I am eternally grateful Fergus found room for me, as a friend. Fergus is forever a part of mine & Fergal's life. Always welcome, wherever we are.

I considered Fergus my best friend and family. I will miss him tremendously. What I will miss most about him were his ridiculous jokes and memes he would send weekly, his cynicism, and his huge heart. He was a very loved and special friend who made you feel important and heard. He always made time for me and for many others out there. He was definitely one of a kind. Thank you Fergus for your friendship and the many laughs we had. I’ll see you again. Love you.
