Fr. Anthony SCULLY

So sad to hear of Fr. Scully's passing and sorry to have received the news too late to attend the funeral. Fr. Scully was well respected in Brittas Bay and a kind and wise man. The pupils of the NS looked forward to his classroom visits. He was good enough to preside over my mother's cremation at Dardistown, even though he only knew her as a visitor to Brittas Bay in her final years, and had retired from the parish himself at that stage. She was very fond of him and it meant a lot to us for him to do that, at great inconvenience to himself.

Rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of the death of my dear friend Fr Anthony. We grew up in Mount Brown almost next door to each other. Anthony was a very gentle person and his ordination brought great joy to the neighbourhood and when he said his first Mass in James Street - my son was an altar boy on the day - there was bunting out across the street and all over Mount Brown in celebration - as well as having the biggest celebration party in the Parochial Hall for everyone. Father Anthony God rest your gentle soul.
