Dear Breda, Mary and Jane, Deepest sympathies to you all on the loss of a great man who was so kind to me and John O'Grady while John was ill. John appreciated his presence and good humour in his life very much. He was a special man with a huge heart and cared so much for so many people. He will not be forgotten. RIP dear Gerry.

I remember the happy short time when I was a seminarian in Clonliffe College in 1972, when Gerry was a fellow classmate Gerry was a good man to have known. I felt that I was with good men then. "The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God" (Book of Wisdom)

Dear Breda, Mary, Jane and all the family, your great loss is heaven’s gain and Gerard certainly has a special place there with his Mammy and Daddy.

We have very fond memories of Gerard when he would come to our house for his dinner when he was attending the De La Salle College and teaching Mammy how to drive.

Mammy and Daddy were so proud when they were invited to attend Gerard’s ordination in Westland Row Church, a very special day for the Byrne family.

I personally will cherish forever the lovely mass card and the beautiful letter which Gerard sent to me when I lost Declan last year, they were a great comfort to me. Gerard always celebrated Mass for Daddy each year on his anniversary which we were so thankful for.

Fr. Gerry was a wonderful person to me in my weeks of need in BRC. He met us in the foyer of the hospital before ever we got to Reception. He took me to the oratory to anoint me before my life-saving and life-changing surgery. He was there every day as though I was the only one, when in fact one of many.
I have treasured knowing him, his words at Mass, his enhancement of my life while bravely bearing his own trials.

Thank you Fr. Gerry. May your dear, gentle, caring soul rest in peace.

Fr Gerry was one of a kind.

We first met when I nursed at BRC in 1987. He had a great sense of fun as well as being incredibly empathic to patients & their families.
Since leaving Nursing, I had occasion to meet Fr Gerry when my Father and
subsequently my Sister were patients. He was always willing to chat, to comfort, to take time to listen.
What a wonderful man.
The world is a sadder place without Fr Gerry.

I was sad to hear the news of Fr. Gerry's death - he was a great comfort to my mother Olive O' Rourke (Cotter Insurances, Dun Laoghaire) in her final days at Blackrock Clinic - I myself met him many times afterwards & he was the kindest, most gentle person - one in a million. My sincerest sympathy to all his family.

Fr. Gerry was a source of comfort for so many especially at the BRC. He came into our lives in a very unexpected way. We were fortunate to also spend more joyful times with him when he married us in 2013. May he rest in peace

I was saddened to learn of Fr Gerrys passing
I met him when I was in Blackrock Clinic some years back post a serious life changing operation
He gave me great empathy and encouragement when I was very ill and passed me a little prayer to help with recovery which thankfully has gone very well We used to meet regularly at the little chapel, room in the Clinic and we talked a lot about various topics of the day .
A true gentleman and great listener too
I still say that prayer every single day and I’m indebted to him for this kind thought
