I have just learned of the death of Fr.Gus, he was a lifetime friend and cousin of my family. Such great memories of him, always in good form with a lovely smiling face, one of nature’s gentlemen. On his many visits home to visit his parents in castle road , he always called home to our house to catch up with my family in Patrick’s place. As children he intrigued us with his lovely lilting half Scottish accent, as teens and adults we were always happy to see him as he always had a great turn of phrase and a good word for everybody . I have very fond and memorable times spent in his company . Thank you Fr.Gus for your humble kind and generous nature. We were blessed to have known you. To your family I send sympathy to you all . The light of heaven to you Fr Gus.

My sincerest sympathy on the death of Fr Gus. I have known him for many decades through CICIAMS (international Catholic Committee of Nurses and Medical Social Assistants). We used to meet at World and Regional Congresses all over the world. The last time I met him was at the World Congress in Dublin in 2014 when he was in great form. We corresponded every Christmas. Alas, this will be no more. May he rest in peace.
